News India Live, Digital Desk: Bihar Assembly Election: Now it will be easier to identify your candidate while casting votes. The Election Commission of India (ECI) has made a major and important change and decided that there will now be a colorful picture of candidates on the electronic voting machine (EVM). This major change is being started from the Bihar assembly elections.

This decision has been taken keeping in mind the convenience of voters so that they can easily identify their candidate and avoid any kind of confusion.

Why did this change need?

Often many candidates of the same name stand up in elections, which creates confusion among voters. Many times voters used to vote only by reading the name and voted for another candidate. To end this problem, the Election Commission has decided to put a picture of the candidate on EVM along with the name and election symbol.

What are the new rules?

  • The picture will be very clear: The candidate’s face will be clearly visible in the photo. For this, it has been decided that the three-fourth of the picture will be covered with the face.
  • Ban on uniform or glasses: The candidate will have to give his recently drawn picture. Wearing any kind of uniform will be banned while taking photographs. Also, it will not be allowed to be photographed by wearing a hat or black glasses so that the face can be easily identified.
  • Pink will be ballot paper: The color of ballot paper on EVM for assembly elections will be pink.

This step of the Election Commission will not only make the electoral process more transparent, but will also make it more simple for voters than ever. This initiative started from Bihar will now be implemented in all the upcoming elections, due to which every vote in this biggest festival of democracy will be in the right place.
