News India Live, Digital Desk: Garuda Purana has special and supreme importance in Sanatan Dharma. It is considered to be the most authentic text on the journey of the soul after death, heaven-hell and the fruits of karma. It is clearly stated in Garuda Purana that while a person’s good deeds open the doors of heaven for him, there are some deeds which are categorized as great sins. Often a person, in his ego, greed or ignorance, commits some such terrible mistakes which cannot be forgiven even in the court of Lord Vishnu and the soul has to endure the terrible tortures of hell. If you also want happiness and peace in your life and want to avoid the punishment of Yamraj after death, then know today those 5 grave mistakes which are considered grave sins in Garuda Purana.
1. Insult and exploitation of women According to Garuda Purana, a person who does not respect women, casts evil eye on someone else’s woman or exploits them physically and mentally is the biggest sinner on earth. Abusing any woman, making fun of a pregnant woman or a woman undergoing menstruation or harassing them directly pushes a person into the fire of hell. Such people are subjected to severe torture after death and even while alive, they spend their lives in poverty.
2. Torture the helpless and deny their rights If you are physically and financially fully capable, yet do not help a hungry, helpless or poor person, then this is also a sin. Harassing a weak person, usurping a poor person’s ancestral land, betraying someone’s trust, snatching someone’s employment or withholding the hard-earned wages of a hard-working laborer are considered serious crimes. Garuda Purana says that even the accumulated wealth of crores of such people cannot save them from hell and the cruel punishment of Yamraj.
3. Cruel atrocities on nature and the voiceless Killing voiceless and innocent animals for the sake of one’s momentary pleasure or merely for the taste of the tongue is considered a heinous sin in Garuda Purana. Apart from this, Lord Vishnu strongly dislikes cutting down lush green trees, destroying standing crops or doing destructive work against nature for his own selfish ends. Such cruel people have to face boiling oil and dreadful punishments in hell.
4. Killing of innocents and fetus Taking the life of any innocent living being is the biggest sin. According to Garuda Purana, the most dreadful punishments have been prescribed in hell for a person who commits feticide (killing an unborn child in the womb) or cooperates in it in any way. A great sinner who kills a newborn baby, a pregnant woman or any innocent person has to suffer terrible pain in the form of animals for many births.
5. Insulting religious scriptures, deities and gurus Our religious scriptures, Vedas and Puranas, Gods and Goddesses and Gurus only show us the right path of life. A person who, in his false ego, blasphemes the Gods and Goddesses, insults the religious scriptures, or despises his gurus and parents, is sent to a terrible hell like Kumbhipaka after death. Such people have to bear the harsh blows of Yamdoots and they never attain salvation.
