News India Live, Digital Desk: It has definitely happened to all of us at some point in time that we have been added to a new office group, group of friends or some event group. But as soon as it connects, the screen looks completely white and blank. We don’t even know what important discussion took place half an hour before we joined or what plan was made yesterday. Then out of compulsion we message an old member or ask in the group, “Brother, what was going on?”
But WhatsApp is now going to end this problem forever. The company is working on a feature through which new people joining the group will also be able to see ‘Chat History’.
What is ‘Recent History Sharing’ feature?
In technical language it is being called ‘Recent History Sharing’. Till now the rule was that you start seeing messages only when you join the group. But after this new update, the group administrator will have the option to open the chat history of the last 24 hours to new members. That means you just joined the group, but whatever messages or files were sent in the last 24 hours will also be present on your screen.
Command will be in the hands of admins
An important point here is that this will not work on its own. WhatsApp has given its control to the group administrator. The administrator will be able to decide whether he wants to share old things keeping privacy in mind or not. This feature will prove to be a boon for those groups where new people keep joining and it is necessary to give them old information.
What will be the benefit out of this?
The biggest thing is that now you will not have to repeat the same thing again and again. There are often new entrants to a group formed for a project or family function. In such a situation, it was a big headache for the admins to explain old things to every new person. Now everything will be available on one click, which will save both time and effort.
The way WhatsApp is improving its group settings, it is clear that they are moving towards making it not just a messaging app but a professional community tool. So just be prepared, soon your group experience is going to be much better and ‘smarter’ than before!
