News India Live, Digital Desk: RBI New Guidelines: A very big and good news is coming for those who pay with checks. Those days are now going to be over soon, when you had to wait a long time to clear the check. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is preparing to make a revolutionary change in the check clearance system in the country, which will complete this process in minutes instead of hours or days.

According to media reports, from October 4, 2025, a major change in the rules of check payment may apply, which will give a lot of convenience to businesses and common people.

What is the current system and why does it take time?

Currently, the ‘Czech Trancistry System’ (CTS) is applicable in the country. In this system, when you deposit the check in a bank, the employee of that bank takes a photo of the physical check, ie digitize it and sends it for clearance. In this entire process, which involves matching data and fund transfer, usually takes from 24 to 48 hours. This time increases even more during festivals or holidays.

What is going to happen now?

According to reports, the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) has prepared a new and more advanced system. In this new system, ‘positive pay system’ will be strengthened further.

  • How will the new system work: Now when a person will issue a check of Rs 5 lakh or more, he will have to give the complete information of the check to his bank (such as the check number, date, amount and who has been given) in advance.
  • Will match immediately: When this check is deposited in the bank, the information given by the person issuing its information through CTS will be matched immediately by the system.
  • Clearance in minutes: If both the information matches, the check will be given clearance within minutes and the money will be transferred.

What will be the big benefits of this change?

  1. Flow of money immediately: For traders this will not be less than a boon. They will not have to wait long for payment, which will improve cash flow in business.
  2. Cheating will be controlled: The fraud with the check due to ‘positive pay’, such as making a fake signature or changing the amount, will be almost impossible.
  3. Time savings: Common people will also not have to wait a long time to clear it by applying check.

Although any official announcement from the RBI is still pending, it is believed that this new rule can be implemented from the beginning of October. This change will prove to be a big step towards further promoting digital payments in the country and making the banking system more fast and safe.
