Coach clarification
Mahela Jayawardene further said, “We thought it would be better to give a chance to a new batsman in the last overs as Tilak was not able to hit the ball properly. It was a decision taken under a strategy, in which we removed one player and sent it to another. It should be seen not emotionally but according to the match of the match.”
He said, “Such decisions sometimes have to be taken in cricket. It was not a criticism of any player, but was a decision taken for the team’s victory.”
