News India Live, Digital Desk : GATE 2026 : Today is an important day for lakhs of students who have applied for GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering) 2026, one of the country’s most prestigious post-graduate engineering entrance exams. The ‘Correction Window’ opened today by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) to correct any mistakes made in the application form, i.e. [आज की तारीख]is closing.

If you have also applied for GATE 2026 and you feel that you have made a mistake in your name, date of birth or any other detail while filling the form, then this is your last chance to correct that mistake. After this, no changes will be allowed and your application may get canceled due to a small mistake.

Why is this correction window important?

Every year lakhs of students appear for GATE exam. It is common for incorrect information to be filled in the form due to haste or any technical glitch during the application process. To give a chance to correct these mistakes, the examination conducting body (this year the respective IIT) opens the correction window for a certain time. This ensures that no student faces trouble due to variation in documents on the day of examination or at the time of counselling.

What things can be improved?

Students can make changes in the following information by visiting the official GOAPS (GATE Online Application Processing System) portal using their log-in credentials:

• Personal Information: Name, date of birth, gender, and category of the candidate.
• Exam related information: Change in selected exam paper and exam city.
• Contact Information: Address, email ID and mobile number.
• Educational qualification: Name of the college and qualifying degree.

It is important to note that for some changes, such as changing category or choosing from one to two papers, students may have to pay additional fees.

How to improve your form?

1. First of all go to the official website of GATE 2026.
2. On the homepage, click on the link ‘GOAPS Portal Login’ or ‘Application Login’.
3. Log in using your enrollment ID/email address and password.
4. After logging in, you will see the option of ‘Application Status’ or ‘Correct Application Form’.
5. Select any section you want to change and fill in the correct information.
6. After making any necessary changes, double-check the information.
7. Pay additional fees if required and submit the final form.
8. Do not forget to take a printout of the revised application form for future reference.
