New Delhi. The glory of the ‘India AI Impact Summit 2026’ going on in the prestigious ‘Bharat Mandapam’ of the Indian capital was ruined when a big fraud was caught. Galgotias University, located in Greater Noida, tried to garner accolades by calling a Chinese robot its indigenous invention, but as soon as the truth was exposed, the government’s temper reached sky high. Taking immediate action, the Central Government not only reprimanded the university but also cut off the electricity to their stall and threw them out of the summit.
Government’s ultimatum: ‘Do not sell others’ goods as your own’
S Krishnan, Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and IT, has expressed strong objection to this incident. He issued a stern warning to all the exhibitors, saying, “The government will not tolerate any institution exhibiting things that are not its own.” He clarified that we cannot continue to showcase any product that is fraudulent in the name of ‘Made in India’. The organizers took immediate action and ordered Galgotias University to pack its bags.
Ashwini Vaishnav said – Mistakes will not be tolerated, action was taken immediately
Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnav has also broken his silence on this entire controversy. Talking to the media, he said, “The best solutions have come from all over the country in the AI Summit. If anyone has done wrong here, immediate action has been taken by adopting a policy of ‘zero tolerance’.” The minister said that other good innovations should not be ignored because of one mistake.
Copy of Chinese ‘Unit’ in the name of ‘Orion’, exposed like this
The bone of contention is the ‘robotic dog’ which students and representatives of Galgotias University had described as their own innovation on a TV channel. He named it ‘Orion’. But social media and tech experts immediately recognized that it was actually a product made by the famous Chinese company ‘Unitree Robotics’.
As soon as it came to light that the university had pasted its sticker only on Chinese products, the organizers on Wednesday cut off the power supply to their stall and asked them to vacate the venue.
Opposition’s attack: Shameful deception in the name of ‘developed India’
This incident has now also taken a political colour. Opposition parties have called it shameful for the country. CPI(M) MP John Brittas attacked the social media platform ‘X’ and alleged that this university has the patronage of big BJP leaders. He said, “From Sambit Patra to Piyush Goyal, people have been attending programs here. The institute that raises slogans of developed India has tarnished the reputation of the country by claiming Chinese robots as its own.” At the same time, Shiv Sena (UBT) Priyanka Chaturvedi and TMC MP Saket Gokhale have also asked sharp questions to the government and the IT Minister whether they were not aware of this fraud?
