Lucknow: Connectivity between Uttar Pradesh’s capital Lucknow and industrial city Kanpur is going to get a new speed. After the completion of the proposed Lucknow-Kanpur Rapid Rail Transit System (RRTS), the travel time between the two cities will be reduced to just 50 minutes, which is currently about two hours. Work on the detailed project report (DPR) of this important project has started and it is expected to be ready within four to six months.
Project Description:

The major stations on this route will be in Lucknow, Unnao and Kanpur. This corridor will operate high -speed trains, which will run at a speed of about 160 kilometers per hour. The project will provide reliable travel facility for passengers especially even in bad weather like fog or rain.
Further process:
DPR is being prepared to evaluate land acquisition, financial viability and other technical aspects for the project. Subsequently, the process of obtaining necessary approval from the Central and State Governments will be carried forward. An investment of about ₹ 15,000 crore is expected in this project. It is expected that the project will strengthen the infrastructure of Uttar Pradesh and also promote regional economic development. Along with this, a 63 km long six-lane expressway between Lucknow and Kanpur is also under construction, which will make the journey more easy by road.
