The US has finally accepted that its relations with India are going through a period of diplomatic ups and downs. But officials say that despite this, the relationship between the two countries remains strong. A senior official of the US State Department has also given positive indications about the meeting of Prime Minister Modi and President Trump. He said that the upheaval in bilateral relations is mainly due to the signals received from Washington. But he insisted that the partnership is in a positive direction.
Negotiations continue for quad summit
The official said that discussion is also going on on fixing the date of the summit of Quad leaders. This summit may occur later this year or early next year. The official said, “I am sure you both (Modi and Trump) will meet. Their relationship is very positive. We have a quad summit, and we are working on its plan, if not this year, then next year. It will happen at some time and we are working on its dates.”
An American official has made a big statement on the purchase of Russian power plants by India and confirmed that the talks with India on the issue are moving positively. Regarding India and Pakistan, he said that the Trump administration has no intention of mediation on the Kashmir issue. However, he said that if help is sought from Washington, President Trump is ready to help.
Trump offers arbitration
The official said, “It has been a long -time policy that this is a direct matter between India and Pakistan, and if we are asked for help, the President, as he is on every issue, is ready. But there are already many crises in front of them. It is a matter between India and Pakistan.” The officer’s statement indicates the changed stance of America. In May this year, Trump offered mediation to end enmity between India and Pakistan, which was rejected by India.
