Lucknow, 17 August (HS). Two employees fell unconscious due to leakage of radioactive element at Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport (Amausi) on Saturday. This caused panic. The NDRF-SDRF team reached the spot and evacuated the cargo area. The team started investigating the matter.

According to the preliminary information given by the airport administration, a flight was going from the airport to Guwahati. A container of anti-cancer medicines was to be sent through this flight. Radioactive elements are used in these medicines. While scanning the container on the domestic cargo terminal side, the machine started beeping. This raised suspicion of some problem. As soon as the container was opened, two employees fell unconscious due to the gas that came out of it. This created panic at the airport. As soon as the matter came to light, SDRF-NDRF teams reached there. The area was evacuated.

The airport administration says that gas leaked from some medicine boxes near the cargo near Terminal-3. After getting the information, NDRF and SDRF teams are present. The situation is completely under control. This has not affected the operations of the airport in any way.
