News India Live, Digital Desk: If there is a cricket ground and there is a match between India and Pakistan, then the excitement and tension automatically increases, whether it is between senior teams or ‘A’ teams. One such heated atmosphere was seen during the ongoing Emerging Asia Cup in Sri Lanka, when Indian ‘A’ team wicketkeeper-batsman Jitesh Sharma clashed with the umpire over a catch.
The incident happened when Pakistan Shaheen’s team was batting and Indian bowler Yuvraj Singh Dodiya was bowling.
What was the whole matter?
A ball from Yuvraj took the edge of the bat of Pakistan batsman Mohammad Huraira and went into the gloves of wicketkeeper Jitesh Sharma. The Indian team made a strong appeal. The ball had come out so close to the bat that the Indian players were sure that it was out. Jitesh Sharma also took a clean catch.
But Sri Lankan umpire Nipun Chaturanga, standing on the field, ignored the appeal and declared the batsman not-out.
Jitesh got angry due to umpire’s decision
Jitesh Sharma lost his temper after seeing this decision of the umpire. He went straight to the umpire and started arguing with him. He was repeatedly trying to convince the umpire that the bat had made a clean noise and it was a clean catch.
Jitesh’s anger and frustration were clearly captured in the cameras installed on the field. He was seen asking the umpire, “It’s clean out, what have you done?” However, the umpire stood firm on his decision and did not listen to Jitesh. The Indian team was disappointed and Huraira got a lifeline.
This video has gone viral on social media and fans are praising Jitesh’s fighting attitude. However, according to ICC rules, it is considered wrong to question and debate the umpire’s decision in this manner. It remains to be seen whether the match referee takes any action on this incident or not.
Even though it was a small dispute, it shows how serious and full of emotions the competition between India and Pakistan is on the cricket field.
