Soon Kashmir Valley is going to join the country’s most high -tech rail network. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Katra-Sangaldan section of Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) on 19 April. The section is the last part of an ambitious project in the country, including the world famous Chenab Railway Bridge. This bridge is the world’s highest railway Arch bridge and will connect Kashmir directly from New Delhi to the rail route.
Local wave of happiness
There is a wave of happiness among the residents of Bakkal village near the bridge. A local resident said that this historic bridge has been built near his village and now Prime Minister Modi is going to come for its inauguration. The construction of this bridge has increased employment opportunities in the area and the local people are expected to get new opportunities even after the inauguration.
Importance of USBRL Project
Railway Board Information and Publicity Executive Director Dilip Kumar said that this project is not just a railway line, but a medium for social and economic development of Kashmir. It also includes a 119 km long tunnel. This project is considered to be very important for the religious journey, tourism and connectivity of Kashmir.
Two Vande Bharat trains on the day of inauguration
Two Vande Bharat Express trains will be run on the occasion of inauguration – one from Srinagar to Katra and another between Katra to Srinagar. This historical day is being seen not only in terms of rail travel, but also as a symbol of technological progress.
Success of first trial run
On 23 January, the first trial run of Vande Bharat train from Katra to Srinagar was successfully done. This train passes through major sites like Filk Bridge and Chenab Bridge. The train is specially designed keeping in mind the cold climate and difficult geographical conditions of the valley.
