News India Live, Digital Desk: Maharashtra Election Controversy: The game of allegations and counter-allegations in politics is not new, but this time this matter is a bit different. The Congress party recently made a big and serious accusation against the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI). The Congress said that when he wanted to send a link to a documentary related to “vote theft” in Maharashtra elections through bulk SMS, TRAI failed their efforts. The Congress described it as a well-planned conspiracy to suppress the information.
Now TRAI has broken its silence on this whole matter and has rejected all these claims of Congress. The whole matter has been overturned by the reply given by TRAI.
TRAI cleaned, explained its work
TRAI has clearly stated that his work is not to stop or send SMS, he explained that his role is only to make rules and regulations. In an easy language, TRAI is like a traffic police that makes rules for walking on the road, but does not give permission to drive every vehicle.
If any person or institution has to send bulk SMS, its application goes directly to telecom companies (eg Jio, Airtel, Vodafone-Idea). These companies only allow or dismiss to send any SMS based on the rules made by TRAI.
“If any application was rejected, we would have known”
TRAI said the biggest thing in its cleanliness that he did not get any such information or complaint that any telecom operator had rejected the Congress’s bulk SMS application. According to TRAI, if a telecom company rejects someone’s SMS application, then it has to inform TRAI under the rules. Nothing like this happened in this case.
TRAI clarified that there is no direct interference in this whole matter and the allegations being made against him are baseless. After this answer, questions have now been raised on the claims of the Congress.
