‘We have completed preparations to bring the Waqf Amendment Bill’

The Waqf Amendment Bill can be introduced in Parliament on 2 April. The government will first introduce this bill in the Lok Sabha. The session will run till 4 April. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said- We are preparing to introduce the Waqf Amendment Bill in Parliament. This bill has been widely discussed outside Parliament. We should also participate in the discussions and debates in the House.

They are misleading people about the Waqf Bill – Kiren Rijiju

Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju said that protests are taking place across the country regarding the Waqf Amendment Bill. This performance is also getting support from opposition parties. India’s Minority Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju has also responded to the issue. He said that some people are misleading people about the Waqf Bill. People should think carefully before speaking.

There is no unconstitutional provision – Kiren Rijiju

He said that Waqf was in existence even before independence and improvements were already done before independence. The Waqf Bill is being deliberately opposed. This bill is a good bill for the country. He further said that a section of Muslims has captured Waqf property and hence they are protesting. There is no unconstitutional provision in the Waqf Bill. Everyone should unite and support this bill.

During the press conference, Kiran Rijiju said that the government is preparing to introduce the Waqf Amendment Bill in Parliament, appeal to everyone to participate in the discussion and debate in the House. He said that there have been record numbers of consultations and discussions outside Parliament. The Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) holds the record for the most comprehensive counseling process and supreme representation in the history of democratic India. Rijiju said that the bill is ready, they will request all political parties to participate in the discussion and keep their views in Parliament. He appealed to the opposition not to be misled.

JPC formed

In the last session of Parliament, the Waqf Amendment Bill was introduced in the Lok Sabha. The bill, submitted amidst heavy uproar by opposition members, was sent to the Joint Parliamentary Committee. A JPC was formed under the leadership of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Jagdambika Pal regarding the Waqf Bill.
