New Delhi: The Grand Alliance government of the Center passed the Waqf Amendment Bill in Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha last week. Interestingly, it was also made a law after the President’s signature. After a huge tussle between the ruling and opposition parties, the bill was passed in both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. This increased the possibility of tension in the entire country. This issue is still hot, while the statement of Congress MP Imran Masood has now created a possibility of heating up politics.
At an event organized by All India Muslim Milli Council in Hyderabad, the Congress MP said, “We are well aware of how a disease is treated in an hour.” When that day arrives, he will treat it within an hour. If there is no mosque, where will we offer Namaz? If there are no cemeteries, then where will the dead bodies be buried? Leave the point of Idgah. Pray for our arrival.
Imran Masood said that there are a lot of storms in the sea and when the storm comes, big ships can cope with it, not boats, so I would like to tell you to prepare to run the ship instead of running a boat. There is only one way, no other way. I promise you this. The day we arrive, we will treat it within an hour.
What did Imran say on Murshidabad violence?
On the Murshidabad violence, Imran Masood said that we are completely against violence. This fight is not of the Muslims of the country, but of the constitution of the country. Just as the Constitution was trampled by bringing the Waqf Act, he (BJP) has partially trampled the Constitution. I would appeal to everyone to protest but do nothing against the Constitution.
‘Protests within legal limits’
The Congress MP said that protests should be done within legal limits and should not cross the legal limits. He said that BJP is the most law and order party. This is the beauty of this country that Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, Christians all live like brothers, but they want to destroy that brotherhood. Violence erupted on Friday in many areas of Murshidabad, Bengal.
The Waqf Amendment Bill has been passed in Parliament. The Bill aims to bring transparency in the management of Waqf properties, increase efficiency and control misuse. New reforms will increase the responsibility of Waqf boards and more strictness in the process of recruitment, use and management of assets is expected. The government hopes that this bill will enable better use of Waqf properties for public interest.
