News India Live, Digital Desk: The initial investigation report (AAIB Report) of the tragic air ambulance accident that took place in Chatra, Jharkhand has come out. This report has presented a horrifying picture of those last moments, when the plane faltered in the air and then suddenly became silent. After analyzing the black box and available data, experts of the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB) have said that the accident was more the result of a wrong decision or ‘deviation’ (deviation) of the pilot than a technical fault.

Lost the way and then started screaming

According to the report, the air ambulance flew at its prescribed altitude and direction, but a few minutes before landing the pilot suddenly deviated from the prescribed route. In the last conversation with ATC, the pilot did not mention any technical fault. However, radar data shows that the aircraft suddenly started descending below its normal altitude and soon lost contact with the control room.

3 main reasons for the accident: According to AAIB

The investigation team has pointed to three possible reasons behind the accident:

Miscalculation of landing: In poor visibility or dense clouds, the pilot misjudged the runway, causing the aircraft to hit trees or high hills.

Sudden silence: Even in the event of an engine failure or fuel leak, the aircraft may have been able to maintain radio contact for some time, but sudden silence would indicate that there had been a major explosion or structural failure of the aircraft.

Human Error: The report is also investigating whether the pilot was under pressure or tried to use a shortcut to land.

Questions raised on air ambulance services

This accident has once again sparked a debate on the safety of private air ambulance services running in the country and their aging fleets. The area of Chatra where this crash occurred is geographically quite inaccessible. The AAIB is also now conducting a detailed investigation into whether the aircraft’s maintenance records were correct and whether the pilot had sufficient experience to fly in such areas.

Victims’ families wait for justice

The families of the patients and medical staff who lost their lives in the accident have demanded strict action from the government in this matter. DGCA has also issued a show cause notice to the concerned aviation company on the basis of this report. Till the final report comes, a temporary ban has been imposed on the flights of that particular category of aircraft.
