News India Live, Digital Desk: UP Anti-Mafia Drive: There was a time in Uttar Pradesh when mafia and criminals used to run their empire by illegally occupying government lands. But now times have changed. This was proved once again on Wednesday when Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath handed over the keys of houses built for the poor on the land which was once in the possession of mafia Mukhtar Ansari.

In a program organized in Lucknow, CM Yogi handed over the keys of their dream houses to 72 beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban). This moment became not just of handing over the keys, but also a big symbol of the end of ‘mafia rule’ and establishment of ‘poor’s rule’ in the state.

‘Where the mafia was in control, there was a home for the poor’

On this occasion, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was seen in his full form. Taking aim at the previous governments, he said, “In the previous governments, poor and destitute people used to cry and the mafia used to laugh. But now the atmosphere in the state has changed. Today the mafia is crying and the poor are entering their rightful home laughing.”

Giving a clear and strong message, he said, “This is the new story of the new Uttar Pradesh. Now it is not the mafia but the poor who have the right over the resources of the state. This action will not be limited to Lucknow only, but in the entire state, wherever the mafia has encroached on government lands, they will be vacated and houses will be built for the poor.”

Flat worth Rs 7.5 lakh, available for just Rs 3.5 lakh

This residential project was started in June 2023. Flats equipped with modern facilities were built for the poor on this land that was freed from the illegal occupation of mafia Mukhtar Ansari. The total cost of a flat is around Rs 7.5 lakh, but under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, it is being given to the beneficiaries for only Rs 3.5 lakh.

The faces of the beneficiaries lit up after receiving the keys. For him, it was like a dream come true that today he had his own permanent house in the place which was once dominated by a notorious mafia. This step of the Yogi government is a declaration that now no criminal or mafia will be tolerated in the state and the benefits of every scheme of the government will directly reach the poor.
