Often something goes on between countries about trade and politics. Something similar was being seen between India and America, when there was a slight tussle between the two countries on some business issues. In the midst of this environment, G20 summit was to be held in Osaka, Japan, where big leaders from all over the world were gathering.
Just before this major meeting, the then US President Donald Trump made a very interesting statement about India. Despite the business tension, he said, “Prime Minister Modi and I are very good friends and we will always be friends.” The media around the world was eyeing what response from India to this statement.
On this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was also very strong and gave a warm reply. Welcoming this statement of Donald Trump, he said that he too fully respects this feeling of friendship.
PM Modi in his reply also made it clear that India and America are very deep. He said that he is eager for this meeting, where there will be open talk on business, defense, 5G technology and many other important issues related to both countries.
These statements of the two leaders were considered very important at that time. On the one hand, while there was a little strictness on business issues, on the other hand, the statement was showing that the personal relationship between the two leaders is strong and they are ready to resolve every issue through dialogue. This was an excellent example of diplomacy, where the door of friendship was kept open even in the midst of stress.
