New Delhi: For the first time in the war going on between Russia and Ukraine for the last two and a half years, Ukraine has come into the leadership position. The Ukrainian army has suddenly attacked the Kursk region of Russia. It claims that it has captured more than a thousand km of land so far. This surprise attack by Ukraine has also exposed Russia's weakness to the world.
Thousands of Russians have had to flee due to this attack in Ukraine. According to experts, this is the first time Russia has suffered such a setback since the Second World War. This is the first time that the army of any country has penetrated so deep into the Russian border.
Even after facing Russia's attacks for two and a half years, Ukraine's ability to counter-attack has stunned not just Russia but war experts from all over the world.
Displaying remarkable strategic skill, Ukraine has figured out where along the Russian border its military presence is weak and how deep it can strike. While Russia remained suspicious that the border is a red line for Ukraine and Ukraine will not cross this line for fear of nuclear war.
But Ukraine attacked Russia by miscalculating all its estimates. Some Russian soldiers were present on Ukraine's 245 km long border with Russia in Kursk. They had no idea that Ukraine would attack here. The surprising thing is that Russia has carried out more than two thousand attacks on Ukraine from this Kursk region.
Russia was shocked when Ukraine attacked with ten thousand soldiers of four brigades simultaneously. Russian military bloggers also said that Ukraine's attack was very intense. Ukrainian military units entered Russia with high speed and armored vehicles. This spread a kind of panic in Russia. These Ukrainian soldiers have already participated in a fierce war with Russia. These Ukrainian soldiers are equipped with ultra-modern weapons supplied by the West.
Matthew Saville, director of military science at the Royal United Services Institute in London, said that the Ukrainian army has invaded 30 km and occupied about 400 km of land. Russia itself believes that about 74 of its colonies are occupied by Ukraine.
