On Wednesday evening, January 22, a major accident occurred in Jalgaon, Maharashtra with the passengers of Pushpak Express going from Lucknow to Mumbai. Rumors spread that the train had caught fire. So people suddenly out of fear started getting off the train to save their lives. However, during this time the train coming on the side track crushed many passengers. 13 people died in this incident. Then a big revelation has come to light in the police investigation in this matter.

An eyewitness to the accident said that a tea seller spread a rumor that the train had caught fire. After this there was chaos inside the train. It was the tea seller who pulled the chain. When the train started slowing down, passengers started getting off the train to save their lives.
The eyewitness further said that some people jumped onto the tracks where the Bengaluru Express was passing and were crushed to death. Hundreds of people jumped to the other side, where there was no way out. If they had jumped like this, more people would have died.

According to information received from the police, this incident happened after two tea vendors spread a rumour. Police said that Maharashtra government is also holding an important meeting in this matter. Along with the Railway Police, Maharashtra Police will also investigate this train accident. The Railway Board has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 1.5 lakh to the kin of the deceased, Rs 50,000 to the seriously injured and Rs 5,000 to those with minor injuries.

PM Modi expressed condolences to the families of the passengers regarding this incident. Wished for speedy recovery of all the injured. Union Home Minister Amit Shah described the incident as extremely sad and said that he has spoken to Chief Minister Fadnavis and taken stock of the situation. A senior railway official said that according to initial information, sparks and smoke came out due to hot axle or brake binding in the coach of Pushpak Express, due to which the passengers got scared.
