News India Live, Digital Desk: We all know that as innocent as Lord Shiva is, he also becomes equally destructive when the time comes. Although his countless incarnations and stories are filled in our scriptures, but there is something unique about the ‘Tripurantaka’ incarnation. This story is not just about war, but about how when a human being or a demon becomes proud of his power, then how nature and God spoil his balance.

Today let us feel that mythological story a little closer, when the entire creation started trembling.

Who was Tripurasura? (Those three demon brothers)
The story begins with Tarakasura’s three sons, Tarakaksh, Kamalaksh and Vidyunmali. Together, all three of them performed severe penance for Lord Brahma and asked for the boon of becoming immortal. But as we know, whoever is born is destined to die, hence he did not get the boon of immortality, but the path of death was decided on a unique condition.

They found three invincible cities: one of gold, one of silver and one of iron. These cities were always rotating in different directions and the condition was that they could be destroyed only if all three of them came in a straight line and someone destroyed all three with a single arrow. Due to this invincible power, he was called ‘Tripurasura’.

When even the gods started accepting defeat
The intoxication of power is very bad. Tripurasura created havoc in all the three worlds. The meditation of the sages began to be disrupted and the gods were expelled from heaven. When all the gods including Indra reached Brahma ji and Vishnu ji, everyone understood only one thing – only Devadhidev Mahadev can do this work.

A wonderful chariot and that last arrow
The form and preparation that Mahadev took to kill Tripurasura seems to be a confluence of science and miracle. The gods together prepared a supernatural chariot for Lord Shiva.

  • Earth His chariot was made.
  • Sun and moon Its two wheels.
  • mountain meru make a bow and yourself Vasuki Naag The string was raised.
  • in person Lord Vishnu This became the tip of that arrow.

One arrow and the end of evil
When that special moment came and those three cities (gold, silver and iron) moving in space came in a straight line, then Mahadev released that infallible arrow from his bow. That one arrow turned all three invincible cities into heaps of ashes. The pride of the demons collapsed and the gods made the whole universe echo with the ‘Tripurantak’ shout of Mahadev.

What do we learn from this story?
This legend tells us that no matter how strong the fortresses of evil are—whether made of gold or iron—they cannot stand before the patience and power of God. The Tripurantaka form of Lord Shiva teaches us how to destroy the three cities (puris) within us of lust, anger and greed with one arrow of knowledge.

If there is any restlessness or ‘ego’ in your mind today, then just close your eyes once and meditate on this divine form of Mahadev… everything will become calm.
