Madras High Court, citing security and law and order, had asked for lighting of lamps subject to certain conditions, but restrictions were imposed on going to the top of the hill.

BJP says this is an “insult to the faith of devotees”. Nainar Nagendran and hundreds of his party workers were moving ahead today (December 5) with the insistence that they would light the lamp only after reaching the top of the hill. They are calling it an attempt to suppress Hindu traditions.

On the other hand, MK Stalin (DMK) The government and the police say that they are only following the court’s order so that there is no riot in the area. As soon as Nainar Nagendran tried to move forward with his supporters, heavy police force stopped him and some AIADMK leaders and detained him.
