News India Live, Digital Desk: If you live in Maharashtra and were preparing to send your child to school early this morning, or have already sent it, then you may have had to come back from the gate. yes, today i.e. 5th December Schools are shuttered down in many areas of the state.
Often schools are closed due to rain or festivals, but the reason for today’s holiday is a bit serious. Today thousands of teachers across the state are leaving their classrooms and protesting.
Now you must be thinking that brother, What is the matter? Why is our ‘Guruji’ angry?
Root of controversy: ‘TET’ i.e. Teacher Eligibility Test
The whole matter is entangled with a government rule. If we understand in simple language, the government has put a condition that if schools (especially subsidized or aided schools) want government grant, then the teachers teaching there should TET (Teacher Eligibility Test) It is mandatory to pass.
Teachers say, “We have been teaching for years, now suddenly you are saying that we will get grants only if we pass the test, this is unfair!”
Their argument is that why is this new rule now being imposed on teachers who were appointed before 2013 or who have years of experience?
What are the teachers asking for?
Maharashtra State Primary Teachers Committee and other organizations together have started this movement. His clear demand is:
- Remove TET condition: The requirement of passing TET for grant should be abolished.
- Old Pension: There is already a demand to implement the old pension scheme.
Teachers say that until the government takes back this ‘Tughlaqi decree’, they are not going to back down. Due to this, demonstrations are taking place at many places today and work in schools is at a standstill.
What is the condition of parents and children?
Obviously, when elephants fight, it is the grass that gets crushed. This strike is having a direct impact on the education of children. Many parents remained confused in the morning whether the school was open or closed. The children who reached school had to come back.
At present, the tussle between the government and the teachers union continues. We can only hope that a middle path is found soon so that children do not suffer harm.
If you have not received any official message from the school, then call the school administration once and confirm.
