News India Live, Digital Desk: There is a news for those medical students of UP who are looking for a good PG college after their hard work. Those doctors who were waiting for UP NEET PG counseling to start their PG (Post Graduation) studies, must have come to know that currently this process has been postponed for some time. At first glance this news may seem disturbing, but the reason behind it is no less than a big hope for many candidates.
What is the real issue?
At present, about 1,200 PG seats are left vacant in government and private medical colleges of Uttar Pradesh. This number is surprising because we all know how much competition there is for every seat in PG. Now the problem is that if the existing cutoff rules are kept in force, then these 1200 seats may not be filled. Remaining vacant seats in colleges is not only a waste of resources, but also an indication of shortage of specialist doctors in the future.
Why can the cutoff fall?
This is the problem due to which the counseling is stalled. Discussions are going on between the department and the government whether the ‘cutoff percentile’ should be reduced slightly. If the cutoff falls, then even those students who were feeling out of the race due to low marks will get a chance to enter the race for admission. In simple language, the eligibility criteria can be slightly increased so that no seat is wasted and deserving students get a chance.
Will the reward of waiting be sweet?
Naturally, students who have already secured good ranks may feel a little irritated that time is being wasted. But looking at the bigger picture, filling 1200 additional seats is good for the entire health infrastructure. At present, officials are busy preparing the new schedule and changed guidelines. It is expected that soon a new notification will be issued by DGME UP.
A little advice for students
Don’t let the time gained by postponing counseling go waste. Check your preference list once again and keep the documents completely in order. In case the cutoff falls, the contest can become interesting again. This delay may open the door to a college or branch that you previously considered beyond your reach.
Maintain patience, because sometimes a stalled process brings better results.
