Fast Track Courts in Bihar: The government has taken a big step to reduce the huge burden of files and cases that have been gathering dust in the courts of Bihar for years. The state courts are burdened with more than 18 lakh pending criminal cases, which is causing significant delays in providing justice. To deal with this problem, Bihar’s Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Samrat Chaudhary has announced the creation of 100 new fast-track courts.

The speed of justice will also increase and employment will also be available.

Not only will buildings be constructed to run these new courts, but 900 new posts will also be recruited. The government has made it clear that posts ranging from bench clerk, office clerk, stenographer to peon and driver will be filled for these courts. This decision will not only speed up the judicial process but will also create new employment opportunities for the youth.

How many new courts will open in your district?

These 100 courts have been distributed based on the number of pending cases in the districts:

  • Patna has maximum 8 courts: The pressure of cases is highest in the capital Patna, hence eight new fast-track courts will be established here.
  • Four each in these big districts: Big districts like Gaya, Muzaffarpur, Darbhanga and Bhagalpur will get four new courts each.
  • Three courts each will open here: Three fast-track courts each will be built in Nalanda, Rohtas (Sasaram), Saran (Chhapra), Begusarai, Vaishali (Hajipur), East Champaran (Motihari), Samastipur and Madhubani.
  • Rest of the districts will have two courts each: Two new courts each will be established in many other districts including West Champaran, Saharsa, Purnia, Munger, Nawada, Jehanabad, Aurangabad, Bhojpur, Sitamarhi, Siwan, Gopalganj, Supaul, Katihar and Banka. Apart from this, there is a proposal for one additional court each in Bagaha and Naugachia.

Special attention on matters related to weapons

Deputy CM Samrat Chaudhary also said that to speed up the hearing of serious cases related to the Arms Act, 79 existing courts have been given the status of special ‘Act Courts’. The aim of this step is to curb serious crimes and further strengthen law and order in the state.

With this decision, it is expected that now people in Bihar will not have to wait for years for justice and criminal cases will be disposed of quickly.
