News India Live, Digital Desk: Today there is a common problem in almost every house – children remain glued to mobile phones. The habit of gaming, social media and watching videos has taken children away from the playground and books, which is having a direct impact on their physical and mental health. In view of this serious problem, the Yogi Adityanath government of Uttar Pradesh has taken a big and necessary step. Now a special campaign will be run in all the schools of the state from primary to intermediate to free children from mobile addiction.

What is the government’s ‘Digital Detox’ plan?

The aim of this campaign is to remove children from the screen world and connect them with real world activities. A comprehensive plan has been prepared for this, which will make children as well as teachers and parents a part of this campaign.

1. Emphasis on sports for young children
Traditional Indian games will be promoted in primary and junior schools to keep children away from mobile phones. Now games like Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Langdi Tang and Pithu will be played regularly in schools. Its objective is to increase physical activity and develop team spirit in children, so that their attention shifts from mobile phones to the playground.

2. There will be a special class on ‘Bagless Day’
Under the new education policy, ‘Bagless Day’ in schools will now be used to make children aware. On this day, children will be told about the harm caused by excessive use of mobile phones. For this in schools:

  • Painting Competition: Children will make paintings on the ill effects of mobile addiction.
  • Essay and Debate: Essays and debates will be conducted on this topic so that the children themselves think and speak on it.
  • Drama and Slogan: Awareness will be spread in interesting ways through activities like street plays and slogan writing.

3. Parents and teachers will also be responsible
This campaign will not be limited to children only. This issue will be raised prominently in the parent-teacher meetings held at the school level. Parents will be told how to control children’s screen time at home. Apart from this, counseling and workshops on “Digital Detox” will also be organized for teachers and parents.

To monitor this campaign, a nodal teacher will be appointed in every school, who will oversee these activities and send forward its report. This step of the government is a very important initiative for the better future of children and their overall development.
