News India Live, Digital Desk: Often we bring expensive lunch boxes, but we do not know the right way to pack them. You can keep food warm even without any expensive heating tiffin. The tips given here are very old and tried:

1. Do this important work before packing tiffin
Often we put hot food directly in the cold container. Instead, wash the tiffin box with boiling hot water 2 minutes before packing the food or keep it filled with hot water for some time. This will increase the temperature of the compartment and when you put hot food in it, the compartment will not absorb the heat of the food and the food will remain hot for a long time.

2. Perfect combination of aluminum foil and cotton cloth
Just wrapping the roti in foil paper is not enough. First wrap the roti in a thin cotton cloth (muslin cloth) and then apply aluminum foil on top. This will keep the roti soft and its heat will not come out. Always keep the shiny side of the foil facing the food, as it reflects heat back.

3. Use of insulated bag or woolen cloth
If your tiffin bag is made of ordinary cloth, then it immediately transmits the outside cold to the compartments. For this you can buy an insulated (thermal) lunch bag from the market. If you do not want to buy a new bag, then after packing the tiffin, wrap it in an old woolen scarf or thick towel and keep it inside the bag. It will not allow the heat of the food to escape.

4. Pack food only sizzling hot
Try to pack the vegetables or pulses immediately after taking them off the flame. Don’t wait for it to cool down even a bit. Also, try filling the empty parts of the lunch box. If the tiffin is half empty, the air present in it will cool the food quickly. Place the boxes of vegetables and pulses on top of each other or close to each other so that they retain each other’s heat.

5. Kitchen Towel Jugaad
Spread a tissue paper or kitchen towel between the vegetable box and the tiffin lid. This will prevent water droplets formed from steam from falling into the food and the food will be saved from becoming soggy and tasteless. When food does not get wet, it retains its freshness and warmth for a longer period.
