News India Live, Digital Desk: With the beginning of the month of April in Bihar, the weather has started turning harsh. According to the latest forecast of the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), the month of April this year is going to be very challenging for the people of Bihar. Maximum and minimum temperatures are expected to be above normal in most parts of the state. According to meteorologists, there will be a gradual increase of 1 to 3 degree Celsius in temperature in the next three-four days, due to which people will have to face scorching heat and humidity.
Mercury may cross 40 degrees The effect of heat is clearly visible in major cities like Gaya, Bhagalpur and Muzaffarpur including the capital Patna. There is also a strong possibility of ‘heat wave’ in many districts of the state from the second week of April. Generally, the temperature during April in Bihar remains between 38°C to 40°C, but this year it is expected to cross 40 degrees. On Thursday, the state’s highest maximum temperature of 37.6 degrees Celsius was recorded in Dehri, while the mercury remained around 34 degrees in Patna.
Rain will bring some relief, but heat will persist The news of relief amid the heat is that the movement of clouds will continue in the first week of April. According to the Meteorological Department, there may be light rain or drizzle in some parts of Bihar on April 6 and 7. During this period, there is also a possibility of strong winds blowing at a speed of 40 to 50 km per hour, for which a ‘Yellow Alert’ has been issued. However, this rain will provide only momentary relief and after this the temperature will rise again.
How will the weather be compared to last year? In April last year, Bihar faced scorching heat and a prolonged heat wave, where the mercury crossed 42 degrees Celsius in many districts. This year too, the intensity of heat is expected to be high, but the Meteorological Department estimates that this time there may be more rain than normal in April. This means that amidst the strong sunlight and scorching heat, intermittent rains will continue to provide some relief to the people.
Caution advised In view of the increasing heat and possibility of heat wave, health experts have advised people to avoid going out of the house during the afternoon and drink adequate amount of water. Especially children and the elderly have been instructed to avoid direct sunlight. Farmer brothers have also been asked to be careful while irrigating their crops.
