What is the demand in PIL on EV policy?
This PIL was filed by advocate Prashant Bhushan on behalf of the Center for Public Interest Litigation. He demanded effective implementation of government policies promoting the use of electric vehicles, referring to the problem of increasing pollution in India.
Prashant Bhushan said, “14 of the 15 most polluted cities in the world in India are in our country. I want the government to implement its policy effectively and create the infrastructure required for electric vehicles. Many times it happens that charging points up to 400 km are not available.”
Central government sought time to answer
The Attorney General, appearing for the government, demanded some time to inform the court about EV policies and implementation of the Center. The Supreme Court has fixed May 14 for the next hearing of the case.
