News India Live, Digital Desk: Today i.e. Thursday, November 13, 2025, many parents and students have a question in their minds whether schools are open or closed. Let us tell you that in most of the states of the country, there is no holiday in schools today and classes are going on normally. However, due to some special reasons, instructions have been given in some cities to keep schools closed or run online classes.
Pollution became the reason in Delhi-NCR
Due to increasing air pollution in the capital Delhi and surrounding areas, special instructions have been issued for schools. Due to poor air quality (AQI) and implementation of GRAP-III norms, schools in Delhi-NCR have been ordered to run classes in hybrid mode for children up to class 5. This means that parents have the option to send their children to school or get online classes. Many schools in Noida and Ghaziabad have also banned outdoor activities, such as assemblies and sports.
Impact of by-elections in Bihar and Telangana
Schools have been kept closed in some selected areas of Bihar and Telangana. With by-elections being held in these states, many schools are being used as polling stations or as halts for election staff. For this reason, holidays have been declared only in schools of those particular areas where the election process is going on. Schools everywhere else are open normally.
When is Guru Nanak Jayanti holiday?
Some people were also under the impression that perhaps there might be a holiday on the occasion of Guru Nanak Jayanti. However, let us tell you that Guru Nanak Jayanti (Gurpurab) will be celebrated in the year 2025. 5 November 2025, Wednesday Will be celebrated and there will be a holiday in schools on this day. Today, i.e. on 13th November, there is no holiday for this reason.
In short, schools are open in most cities today, except in some affected areas of Delhi-NCR, Bihar and Telangana, where schools are either closed or running in hybrid mode due to pollution and elections. It would be better if you contact your child’s school to get accurate information.
