News India Live, Digital Desk: A common headache in all of our lives is whether it is morning or evening, the mobile rings and a voice comes from there, “Sir, do you want a credit card?” Or “Mam, you are getting a cheap personal loan!”
Sometimes I get so angry that I feel like throwing the phone. Whether you are in a meeting or relaxing at home, this Spam Calls And unwanted messages are a nuisance.
If you are also troubled by these, then a very ‘relieving news’ has come for you. Our telecom regulator i.e. TRAI (Telecom Regulatory Authority of India) has taken the biggest action ever against these troublemakers.
Let us understand in simple language what has happened and what effect it will have on the common man.
What action has TRAI taken?
There are reports that TRAI has taken strict steps in almost 21 Lakh (2.1 Million) Mobile numbers have been disconnected. Yes, 21 lakhs!
This action has been taken against those numbers who were flouting the rules. These were numbers that were used either telemarketing (selling goods without permission) or cyber fraud (Fraud) and was being done to send harassing messages to people in bulk.
Not just SIM switched off, a complete ‘ban’ imposed!
The matter does not stop at just switching off the SIM. TRAI has also ‘blacklisted’ thousands of connections using these SIMs. This means that now these people will not be able to buy a new SIM easily and will not be able to trouble people again. This is being considered a big step towards making Digital India clean.
What does this mean for common users (you and me)?
- Some relief: Hopefully now the flood of unwanted calls on your phone will reduce a bit.
- Protection from fraud: Often fraud links were sent from these unregistered numbers. Now when these numbers will be closed, the risk of scams will also reduce to some extent.
Is your number in danger? (necessary caution)
Friends, this rule of TRAI is not only for scammers, but also instructs all of us to be cautious.
- Attention: anytime your personal mobile number Do not use this number (which is 10 digits long) for bulk messaging (messages to many people at once) or commercial promotions.
- If the system feels that you are spreading spam, your number may also come under scrutiny. Always use a registered business number for commercial work.
