Lucknow. The next week is going to be very important in terms of politics and development of Uttar Pradesh. Yogi Adityanath government is going to start the budget session of the Assembly from Monday, February 9. The biggest attraction of this session will be the annual budget for the financial year 2026-27 to be presented on February 11. It is believed that in view of the preparations for the upcoming Panchayat elections and 2027 assembly elections, Finance Minister Suresh Khanna can present a ‘historic’ and populist budget of about Rs 9 lakh crore this time.

Round of meetings and finalization of strategies

Before the formal start of the budget session, the market of meetings is hot in the capital Lucknow today. Preparations are being finalized in the assembly. An all-party meeting has been called in the presence of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath at 12 noon today, in which the ruling party will appeal for cooperation from all the opposition parties to run the proceedings of the House smoothly. Before this, the time table of the session will be discussed in the meeting of the Business Advisory Committee at 11:30 am. There will be a meeting of the NDA legislature party at Lok Bhavan at 5:30 pm, in which the Chief Minister will explain to the MLAs of BJP and allies the strategy to respond to the attacks of the opposition.

The session will begin with the Governor’s address.

On the first day of the session, Governor Anandi Ben Patel will address the joint house of the Legislative Assembly and the Legislative Council. The Governor’s address will give a glimpse of the government’s achievements of the last year and its future roadmap. Since the budget is to be presented on February 11, the eyes of the entire state are fixed on the suitcase of Finance Minister Suresh Khanna. The government’s effort is to maintain financial balance along with accelerating the pace of development.

Main focus will be on infrastructure and employment

In this budget, maximum emphasis can be laid on making the infrastructure of Uttar Pradesh of global standard. It is estimated that about 25 percent of the total budget will be spent on infrastructure projects like roads, bridges and urban development. Apart from this, a large amount can be allocated in the budget for creating new employment opportunities for the youth, connecting farmers with subsidies and new technology and welfare schemes being run for the poor class. There is a possibility of allocation of 15% for education, 12% for agriculture and 8% for health sector.

The impact of the election year is sure to be visible on the budget.

Experts believe that keeping in mind the Panchayat elections and the Mahakumbh (Assembly elections) of 2027, the Yogi government can announce some new and big schemes in this budget. The scope of social security schemes can be increased for women, elderly and backward people. The government aims to take another strong step towards making the state a ‘one trillion economy’.
