Nainital, May 27 (HS). Uttarakhand Governor Lieutenant General Gurmeet Singh (retd) held separate meetings with various administrative officials at Nainital Raj Bhavan on Monday and inquired about the problems and schemes of the division and district.

The Governor first met the Commissioner of Kumaon Division Deepak Rawat and enquired about the incidents of forest fire in the Division and the actions taken on them. Also, in view of the pressure of tourists during the peak tourist season in the state, he asked for concrete solutions to the problem of traffic jams in Nainital and development of new parking lots.

Apart from this, the Governor inquired from the Commissioner about the efforts being made for planned development in Haldwani and the upcoming action plan and also discussed about the works being done for the facilities of tourists in the Manaskhand area and other development plans. After this, the Governor inquired from DFO Chandrashekhar Joshi about the activities of the Forest Department including incidents of forest fire and efforts made to prevent it. Taking information regarding registered homestays in the district, the Governor asked the CDO to further increase the number of homestays, conserve old drains and make efforts for their revival to increase the underground water level in the district. He also stressed the need for special efforts to develop other tourist areas besides Nainital.
