BJP On Pegasus Spying: Congress party is attacking the central government over the alleged espionage scandal or the Pegasus Project row. While the party has sought the resignation of the country’s Home Minister Amit Shah regarding this matter, it also demanded an inquiry into the role of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
BJP has termed the allegations of Congress on the media report of espionage as ‘baseless’. Senior BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad on Monday questioned the legitimacy of the media report on the ‘Pegasus Project’ as it comes to the fore a day ahead of the monsoon session of Parliament.
“The allegations made by Congress today are baseless. What can you expect from the same Congress party that asked for the evidence of Galwan Valley? The BJP vehemently denies all the allegations made by the opposition Congress,” former Union IT Minister said alleging Congress itself has a history of snooping and espionage.
“Pranab Mukherjee had complained of espionage when Congress was in power. No evidence has come to the fore in this case that directly links the Government of India to this (Pegasus Project),” BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad said.
Congress Demands Home Minister’s Resignation
Congress, on Monday, sought the resignation of Home Minister Amit Shah amid allegations of spying on the country’s big political figures, judges, and journalists via the Israeli software Pegasus. Congress also demanded an inquiry into the role of PM Modi.
Congress leader of opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge said during a press conference organised by Congress that the PM and the Home Minister themselves spy on the opposition leaders and journalists (and even their own ministers), the evidence of which has been found. That’s not all. Rahul Gandhi has also been spied on.
