Delhi: Yamuna’s Water Level Crosses Danger Mark, Govt Says Ready To Deal With Flood Situation

New Delhi: The water level of Yamuna river is increasing rapidly in the capital Delhi and at present, the water level has crossed the danger mark. The water released from Hathnikund barrage is reaching Delhi, due to which the level of Yamuna is increasing continuously.

The water level in Yamuna has reached 205.34 meters at 11 am on Friday. While the danger mark is 205.33 meters. The water level in Yamuna had reached 205.32 meters at 10 am. The high flood level mark in Yamuna is 207.49 meters.

Flooding may occur in low-lying areas around Yamuna

The administration is on alert about the speed with which the water level of Yamuna is rising, it is feared that there may be floods in the low-lying areas around Yamuna. According to the information received from the administration, 20,485 cusecs of water have been released from Hathnikund barrage at 6 am today, 20,485 cusecs at 7 am, 19,056 cusecs at 8 am, 19,056 cusecs at 9 am and 19,056 cusecs at 10 am.

Giving information about the preparations of the Delhi government, Delhi’s Flood and Irrigation Minister Satyendar Jain said that, water is being released continuously from Hathini Kund, it is also raining due to which the water is also expected to increase.

Satendra Jain further said, “Delhi government has made full preparations, if flood situation arises then we are ready. All the areas on the banks of Yamuna near the low-line, those affected have been identified, whose list will also be issued. Duty of all DMs has been imposed.
