The Delhi zoo, which was closed due to the pandemic, is going to reopen. From 1st August, the zoo will be open in two shifts. The first shift will be from 9 am to 12 noon, while the second shift will be from 1 pm to 4 pm.

Entry into Delhi zoo will be possible only through online booking. All COVID-19 protocols will be strictly implemented. Online bookings will start from 31st July. Ramesh Pandey, director of the National Zoological Park, provided this information to the news agency ANI.

It is surprising that certain restrictions have been relaxed despite the COVID-19 situation. Metro and buses have also been allowed to run with full capacity in the national capital, Delhi, from Monday. People will be able to travel by occupying all the seats available. However, there is a ban on travelling whilst standing.

Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) had been operating trains with 50 percent seat capacity since 7th June (when metro services were restored after a long time due to COVID-19).

Given the increase in the number of passengers, 16 additional gates have also been opened at 16 metro stations to facilitate their movement. DMRC had already opened 260 gates for passengers. Apart from these, 16 more gates have been opened. People can now use the 276 gates at all the stations. DMRC said that the stations where additional gates have been opened include Janakpuri West, Karol Bagh, Vaishali, Kashmere Gate, Central Secretariat, and MG Road.

Delhi saw an increase in the number of COVID-19 cases and deaths during the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic in the months of April and May. However, the situation has improved in the last few weeks, after which the government is reopening the city in a phased manner. Under the latest unlock guidelines, Delhi Metro, the lifeline of the national capital, will operate with 100% seating capacity from Monday, but passengers will not be allowed to travel standing.
