Earthquakes Felt In Rajasthan, Meghalaya & Ladakh Within Hours Of Each Other

Bikaner: Earthquake tremors were felt in three states of the country in the early hours of Wednesday. The highest intensity one was in Bikaner, Rajasthan. An earthquake occurred in Bikaner, Rajasthan at 5:24 am. Here the magnitude of the earthquake was measured at 5.3 on the Richter scale.

The epicenter of the earthquake was 343 km west-northwest (WNW) of Bikaner, Rajasthan, the National Center for Seismology tweeted.

Along with Bikaner, an earthquake was felt in Meghalaya as well. There was an earthquake here at around 2:10 am. Its intensity was recorded at 4.1 on the Richter scale.

“Earthquake of Magnitude:4.1, Occurred on 21-07-2021, 02:10:49 IST, Lat: 25.88 & Long: 90.34, Depth: 10 Km, Location: 42km NNE of Tura, Meghalaya,” the National Center for Seismology tweeted.

At the same time, an earthquake of 3.6 magnitudes on the Richter scale occurred in Leh located in Ladakh at 4:57 am. No loss of property or injuries has been reported. 

“Earthquake of Magnitude:3.6, Occurred on 21-07-2021, 04:57:46 IST, Lat: 34.20 & Long: 77.78, Depth: 200 Km, Location: 19km ENE of Leh, Laddakh,” National Centre for Seismology tweeted.

Earlier on Sunday, tremors of 3.9 magnitude were felt in the Kutch district of Gujarat. An earthquake of 3.9 magnitude struck at 12:43 pm and was centered at a depth of 14.2 km in north-northeast Bhachau, 19 km from the Kutch district. An earthquake of 1.6 magnitude occurred in the same area a day earlier on Saturday at 12:02 pm and its epicenter was 21 km north-northeast of Bhachau.

According to the state’s Disaster Management Authority, Kutch district is located in a ‘high-risk seismic zone’. The district was hit by an earthquake of magnitude 6.9 in January 2001, causing a lot of devastation.
