Manchester: An incident of a missed run-out took place during a Vitality Blast T20 match in England. Joe Root led Yorkshire showed a great display of sportsman spirit during the 18th over of the match. The Lancashire batsmen, Luke Wells and Steven Croft were trying to steal one single after Wells hit one down towards long-off. The fielder was quick to get rid of the ball but the throw hit Croft and he went to the ground while taking the run. 17 runs were needed off 18 balls at that point in the match with 5 wickets in hand. What happened next will surely surprise you.

The Yorkshire fielders could have easily run Croft out and at a point when their team needed quick wickets, but the England captain, Joe Root showed great character and decided against running Croft out when he was down on the ground. Take a look at the incident:

Lancashire eventually won the match with one over to spare but Croft getting out in the 18th over could have changed the scenario of the match. This incident has proven yet again why Cricket is called the gentleman’s game. Would you have done the same had you been in the same position as of Root?

The match was being played for the North Group in the Vitality T20 Blast, which is the domestic T20 competition in England. Lancashire and Yorkshire are both top teams of the North Group. The final of the Vitality Blast will be played in September.

18 total teams take part in the competition out of which only 8 qualify for the knockout stages.
