J&K: No Govt Benefits, Passport Clearance For People Involved In Stone Pelting And Other Crimes

Jammu: The government of Jammu and Kashmir announced on Sunday that individuals engaged in activities that violate the law and order in the Union Territory will face strict actions by the administration. The statement released by govt said that the CID Special Branch has directed all units to deny security clearance for engaging in stone-pelting and other crimes prejudicial to the security of the state.

The order said, ” No security clearance related to passport verification for subjects found involved in law & order, stone-pelting cases, and other crimes prejudicial to the security of the Union Territory.”

The statement further said that CID will also look into the past records of the individuals during verification related to passport, services, and any other verification to government schemes. Apart from that, the investigating agencies will collaborate with the local police stations to gain access to an individual’s history. The circular stated that any person found violating the law and order will be denied security clearance. 

“Also, digital evidence like CCTV footage, photographs, videos and audio clips, quadcopter images available in the records of the police security forces and security agencies be also referred. Any subject found involved in any such cases must be denied the security clearance,” the order said.  In addition, they will also be denied government jobs and other government benefits.

Meanwhile, security has been ramped up in the Union territory ahead of the anniversary of the abrogation of Article 370 and Independence Day celebrations in the valley.
