Maharashtra Covid Curbs Likely To Be Relaxed Further; Decision On Local Train, Gyms, Malls Soon

Mumbai: As number of daily Coronavirus cases ssem to be stabilise in Maharashtra, the Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray is mulling over further easing the lockdown restrictions in the state. 

After a meeting of the state Covid-19 taskforce, State Health Minister Rajesh Tope on Thursday said that the Maha Vikas Aghadi government has decided to provide relaxation in restrictions in 25 districts of the state where the cases of COVID are fewer while Covid norms will remain intact in the remaining 11 districts. 

According to media reports, the state government is also in talks with railway administration regarding travel in the Mumbai local trains. A decision in regards with travel in local trains will be taken in two to three days. 

The minister further said that Maharashtra government is also reviewing norms regarding weekend curfew timings Cinema halls, hotels, gyms. 

Meanwhile, Maharashtra Cabinet Minister and Guardian Minister of Mumbai, Aslam Shaikh, said everal ministers in the Maha Vikas Aghadi alliance government feel that people who are vaccinated with two doses should be permitted to travel.  The minister also informed that ovid-19 task force has submitted its recommendations over relaxations and decision is expected soon. 

Maharashtra reported 6,258 new coronavirus cases and 254 Covid-related deaths on Tuesday. With this, the overall infection tally inched to 62,76,057 while death toll stands at 1,31,859.

As many as 12,645 patients were discharged, making the  count of recoveries to 60,58,751. According to the health bulletin, there are 82,082 active cases. The recovery rate stands at 96.54 % while the fatality rate is 2.01%.
