New Delhi: After huge ruckus in the Parliament by the opposition parties, once again both the houses – Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha were adjourned. Both the houses faced repeated suspension with Lok Sabha now adjourned till 3.30 pm and Rajya Sabha till 3 pm.
The Rajya Sabha was earlier adjourned for one hour till 12.25 pm to mark the deaths of two sitting MPs – Dr Raghunath Mohapatra and Rajeev Satav, who died of coronavirus-related complications.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi tried to introduce the new ministers in Rajya Sabha while the opposition created an uproar. “I thought that there would be enthusiasm in the Parliament as so many women, Dalits, tribals have become ministers,” he says. “This time our colleagues from agricultural and rural background, OBC community, have been given berth in Council of Ministers.”
PM said that some ministers are not in favour of having a woman or a Dalit minister so they are not letting the PM to introduce his ministers to the house.
Leader of the House in Rajya Sabha Piyush Goyal condemned opposition for chaos.
“It’s unfortunate that introduction of OBCs, Dalits, SCs and STs, representatives of northeastern states, and women as Ministers was interrrupted. A democratic process was halted by Opposition MPs. It’s an insult to democracy and the people of India. We condemn this,” said Piyush Goyal.
The Monsoon Session of Parliament began on Monday with proceedings in both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha starting at 11 am. The session will conclude on August 13.
