PMLA Case: Anil Deshmukh & Son Likely To Skip ED’s Summon Today

Mumbai:  Former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh and his son Hrishikesh Deshmukh have been asked to be present in the ED office at 11 am today. But the hearing on the appeal of Anil Deshmukh in the Supreme Court is tomorrow. Deshmukh has moved the Supreme Court seeking protection from any coercive action by ED. It has been reported from sources that Deshmukh will not go to the ED office today.

According to Anil Deshmukh’s lawyer Inderpal Singh, the chances of Anil Deshmukh and Hrishikesh Deshmukh coming to the ED office are slim. However, Anil Deshmukh will decide at 10.30 am if he would visit the ED office today or not. He will make a decision after talking to the Supreme Court lawyer.

Anil Deshmukh’s petition will be heard on August 3

The Supreme Court on Friday granted no protection from arrest to former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh on a plea, seeking protection from any alleged coercive action in the money laundering case registered against him by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). The bench directed to list the petition with the relevant matters on August 3, so that the same order can be passed in all the cases.

Former Maharashtra Home Minister Deshmukh and his son Rishikesh had moved the Supreme Court seeking relief after the Enforcement Directorate’s third summons in the money laundering case. In the petition, former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh sought protection from any alleged coercive action, in the money laundering case registered against him by the Enforcement Directorate Deshmukh has been charged with extortion and money laundering from a group of Mumbai orchestra bars and the matter is being probed by the ED.
