Pune: Trained Teen Horse Rider Jumps To Death From Building’s Fourth Floor

Pune: A 17-year-old trained horse rider, who had participated in various national equestrian competitions, reportedly jumped to death from the fourth floor of a building in Nanded, Pune, on Sunday.

The deceased has been identified as Shreeya Gunesh Purandare, who was a college student and had received lessons in horse riding throughout her childhood.

The untoward incident reportedly took place at 11 a.m. following which the girl’s family, which puts up on the building’s first floor, rushed her to a private hospital where she was declared dead upon arrival.

The preliminary investigation into the matter points to this being a case of death by suicide, police said.

“The girl lived on the first floor of the building located in Nanded City Township. Our preliminary probe indicates that it is a case of suicide. She might have jumped either from the third floor or the fourth floor of the building’s staircase corridor,” PTI quoted Inspector Sadashiv Shelar, the in-charge of Haveli police station, as saying.

“We have not found any note or message and the reason behind her taking the extreme step is yet to be ascertained,” he added.

The police is yet to record the statements of the girl’s family, which is currently in a shock post the incident.

Gunesh, the father of the deceased, runs an equestrian training academy in Pune, police said.
