Shikhar Dhawan has been made the captain of the Indian team in this series. Dhawan on Sunday completed his 6000 runs in One Day Internationals.
The star batsman made this record just when he reached the 23-run mark during his innings. In the list of batsmen who have completed 6000 runs in ODIs, Dhawan has become the fourth fastest batsman to score 6000 ODI runs.
Shikhar Dhawan scored his 33rd fifty in ODIs against Sri Lanka on Sunday. The record for scoring fastest 6000 runs in ODIs is held by South Africa’s Hashim Amla. Amla scored 6000 ODI runs in 123 innings. Virat Kohli scored 6000 ODI runs in 136 innings.
On the other hand, New Zealand’s Kane Williamson scored 6000 runs in ODIs in 139 innings.
India’s wicket-keeper batsman Ishan Kishan scored a record-breaking fifty in his ODI debut, on his birthday. He scored his fifty in just 33 balls. During this he hit 8 fours and 2 sixes. He has become the second player to make the fastest fifty in ODI debut. Krunal Pandya holds the record for the fastest fifty in ODI debut. In his ODI debut, Krunal made a fifty off just 26 balls.
Batting first, Sri Lanka scored 262 for 9 in 50 overs. Chamika Karunaratne scored the highest 43 runs for Sri Lanka. Captain Dasun Shanaka scored 39 runs. Deepak Chahar, Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav took two wickets each for Team India.
