The three match T20 International series between India and Sri Lanka has come to an end. After registering a 2-1 win in the ODI series, Shikhar Dhawan-led ‘young’ team India suffered a humiliating 1-2 loss in the T20 International series. India won the first match of the T20 series, but lost two matches in a row after that.

In the last T20I match of the series on July 29, Team India could score only 81 runs in 20 overs and Sri Lanka, losing just three wickets in 14.3 overs, achieved the target to win the series. After the first match of the T20 series, Krunal Pandya tested Covid-19 positive, after which eight other Indian cricketers who came in his close contact with the all-rounder were ruled out of this series.

Despite a heart-breaking loss, India skipper Shikhar Dhawan, in a warm gesture, was seen interacting with the entire Sri Lankan team, photos and videos of which have gone viral on social media. After the match, Dhawan also revealed what conversation he had with the inexperienced and young Sri Lankan players.

Dhawan revealed, “Both the teams showed great sportsmanship during this series. It was wonderful to see that apart from being competitive on the field, we also had respect for each other. The players of the Sri Lankan team wanted to know what was my process, I was just sharing my experience with them. I hope they enjoyed listening to me. I want to congratulate the Sri Lankan team for the win”

Here’s how Twitter reacted to Dhawan’s heart-warming gesture

In the absence of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma, Team India came on the Sri Lankan tour under the captaincy of Shikhar Dhawan. Virat-led team India is on a tour of England for five test matches. This was the first time that India had sent two teams for different formats on two different tours.
