Two Players From Mexican Baseball Team Test Covid Positive Before Leaving For Tokyo Olympics

Whereas , just few days before leaving for Tokyo, the Covid-19 report of two players from the Mexican baseball team came positive. This information was given by officials of the Mexican baseball team officials who said that both the players have been isolated separately from the rest of the team as a precautionary measure and that they are waiting for the reports of other players of the team as well. 

According to a statement issued by the Mexican baseball team on July 18, before leaving for the Tokyo Olympics, the Covid report of two team players, Hector Velázquez and Sammy Solis, came positive. In his statement he also said that “Both the players have been isolated from the rest of the team in rooms of the team hotel. Rest of the team and coaching staff have also been isolated till the RT-PCR report is out.”

Mexico will follow the protocol of the Olympic Committee 

Also, the baseball team in its statement asked to follow all the protocols of the Mexican Olympic Committee. According to the statement, “To protect the health of all members of the national baseball team participating in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, all protocols of the Mexican Olympic Committee (COM) will be followed.” 

The Mexicans play their first match in the Olympic baseball event on July 30 against the Dominican Republic in Yokohama. But after this latest development, the start of his campaign in the Olympics have received a major setback.
