Uttarakhand Election: Harish Rawat To Be Congress’ CM Face, Godiyal Becomes State Party Chief

Uttarakhand Assembly Election: Amidst the deepened political crisis within Congress, the election preparations have begun. There is an atmosphere of victory and celebration before the elections in Harish Rawat’s camp.

Being the chairman of the election campaign committee, the command of the election will be in the hands of Harish Rawat. By making his close aide Ganesh Godiyal the state president, Harish has underlined the importance of Harda in preparing the panel of tickets. However, this has happened for the first time that both the state president and the leader of the opposition would be from Garhwal. 

In the new chapter of Congress, the character of Pritam Singh has been changed from State President to Leader of Opposition. Harish Rawat’s ‘khaas’ Ganesh Godiyal is crowned as state president after defeating BJP’s Dhansingh Rawat in the last assembly elections from the Srinagar assembly seat.

Four working presidents have also been appointed, including the name of Bhuvan Kapri. Kapri is supported because he lost the last assembly election by just 2.5 thousand votes to the current Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and will contest again from this Khatima seat.

The future strategy was clear when Harish Rawat consented to the appointment of both the important posts of State President and Leader of Opposition from Garhwal. Often these two posts are not in the same circle, but Harish Rawat allowed this to command the election steering committee. The chairman of the election steering committee is generally considered to be the face of the chief minister. Most of the leaders in the election campaign committee are also from the Harish camp. The name of Aryendra Sharma for treasurer is going to shock the Harish camp.

An attempt has been made to break into the Punjabi fraternity by appointing Tilak Raj Beyhadh as its working president. Beyhadh comes from Udham Singh Nagar district and has also been a cabinet minister once. Apart from this, Jeetram is also considered close to Harish Rawat. Jeetram comes from a scheduled caste, but Ranjit Rawat’s name for the working president has shocked everyone. Ranjit Rawat, who was once a close aide of Harish, is now a strong leader of Pritam Singh Camp. When Harish Rawat was the Chief Minister, Ranjit used to run the government. There are reports of bigotry between the two, and Harish has not allowed a ticket for Ranjit Rawat’s son in the last Salt Assembly.

State Congress’s new president Ganesh Godiyal has been elected as MLA twice from the Srinagar seat in the Pauri district. He once defeated Dhansingh Rawat and Ramesh Pokhriyal and made a place for himself in the assembly. In the Harish Rawat government, he was given the status of a cabinet minister by making him a parliamentary secretary. In the initial phase, his politics progressed under the guidance of Satpal Maharaj, and then he joined the Harak Singh Rawat camp. But after these two leaders joined the BJP, Godiyal joined Harish Rawat. Now he is seen as the warlord of Harish Rawat.

Before any election, the election campaign committee of any political party is considered very important, Harish Rawat became its chairman and was also successful in getting his special Rajya Sabha MP Pradeep Tamta as the vice-president, and another special former minister Dinesh Agarwal as the convener.
