Virat Kohli Surpasses MS Dhoni To Register Unwanted Record Of Most Duck As Captain In Tests

The first match of the five-match Test series being played between India and England is being played at Trent Bridge in England. The hosts won the toss and opted to bat first. England scored 183 runs. Team India got off to a good start on Day 2 of the Ind vs Eng 1st Test as openers Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul stitched a solid 97-run partnership for the first wicket.

But, as soon as Rohit was dismissed, the Indian innings saw a sudden collapse as they lost 4 wickets till the Tea break. At Stumps on Day 2, India are 125/4 and trail England by 58 runs.

During the match, captain Virat Kohli was shown the way back to the pavilion by veteran James Anderson. Along with getting out for a Golden Duck, Virat also registered an unwanted record to his name in Test cricket.

Virat Kohli has become the Indian captain to be dismissed for the most number of times for a duck in Test cricket.

This was Virat’s 9th duck in 101st innings of his 62nd Test match as captain of the Indian cricket team. Earlier, the unwanted record for most ducks in Tests as Indian skipper was held by Mahendra Singh Dhoni who received eight ducks in 96 innings of 60 Test matches as team India captain. 

Before Virat, out-of-form Cheteshwar Pujara came out to bat and also could not do much. He was dismissed by James Anderson for just 4 runs.  Team India vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane was also run out after scoring 5 runs.

Earlier in the first session of the second day, Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul added 97 runs for the first wicket. However, Rohit once again failed to capitalize on a good start and fell to Ollie Robinson after scoring 36 runs. England were all out after scoring 183 runs in the first innings.
