Watch: Malti Chahar Showers Praise On Brother Deepak For His Batting Heroics Against Sri Lanka

Team India defeated Sri Lanka by 3 wickets in the second match of the Ind vs SL ODI series. Team India, captained by Shikhar Dhawan, took an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series with this win.

Batting first after winning the toss, Sri Lanka scored 275/9 in 50 overs. India achieved the 276-run target in 49.1 overs for the loss of 7 wickets. The heroes of India’s victory were Deepak Chahar, Suryakumar Yadav and Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

At one time in the match, 7 Indian batsmen had fallen for 193 runs and defeat seemed certain for the visitors but then Deepak Chahar and Bhuvneshwar Kumar shared an 84-run partnership for the 8th wicket to snatch the victory from the jaws of Sri Lanka.

Deepak Chahar scored an unbeaten 69 off 82 balls with the help of 7 fours and a six. While Bhuvneshwar Kumar played an unbeaten 19 runs in 28 balls with the help of 2 fours.  Apart from these two, Suryakumar Yadav scored 53 runs in 44 balls.

Deepak Chahar’s sister has now reacted to her brother’s batting heroics on Instagram. Malti Chahar shared a video clip of the TV while showering praises on her brother Deepak and wrote that Chahar has won the match for India and heart of every Indian. “You are a star, keep shining,” she added.

Vice-captain Bhuvneshwar Kumar has credited Rahul Dravid for the victory. Bhuvi says that Dravid had played the masterstroke of letting Chahar bat at number 8 and it proved to be the game-changer for team India.

Team India’s vice-captain said, “Deepak Chahar has played under coach Rahul Dravid for India A or some series and he scored runs there as well. So Dravid knew he could bat so it was Dravid’s decision.”
