Patna: These days Bihar administration is trying to implement stricter rules to stop illegal sand mining in the state. Police are monitoring loaded trucks more closely than ever now. The implementation of the strict vigil in the state has caused a stir. Allegedly, the police personnel and officers who have nexus with the sand mafia are also under scanner.

JAP supremo Pappu Yadav highlighted that despite the crackdown on illegal sand mining why is no sand mafia is being punished. “In Bihar, two SPs and many police officers have been suspended for protecting the sand mafia. But neither was the sand mafia caught nor was black money confiscated. No action has been taken against the politicians involved in illegal sand mining. Everyone is looting together in silence. Why is everyone silent?” he tweeted in Hindi.
Action Against 2 IPS Officers
After the amendment in Bihar Mineral Rules 2019, police are taking more strict action against the sand mafia. Recently, the Bihar government suspended two IPS officers Sudhir Kumar Porika and Rakesh Dubey, and 16 police and administrative officers with immediate effect in the illegal sand mining case. The action was also taken against Sanjay Kumar, assistant director of the mining department.
At the same time, it has been recommended to suspend the service of two mining officers by returning them to the cooperative department. Apart from this, action has also been taken against many other police officials.
It is known that the cabinet has made new rules to crack down on illegal mining in Bihar. Bihar cabinet has approved the amendment in Bihar Mineral Rules 2019. After the approval of the cabinet, the new rules have come into force in the state. The government has increased the fine on illegal mining by up to 25 times. Along with this, it has also been decided to confiscate the vehicles and boats involved in illegal mining.
